Sorry guys, I have been extremely bad about writing on my blog and I have no idea why. I think about it during the day but forgetting about writing never seems to fail.

So I had a pretty bad weekend so I didn't feel like writing more on my creative thing we did in class so I'm going to write about something else.

Yesterday (Monday) I had some pretty bad luck. Sunday night I brought my car here to keep until spring break so my parents won't have to come pick me up. I parked my car in the stadium lot, hoping I would not be written a ticket the next day before I could get parking passes. Monday rolls around and I get up and go to English and Greek and Roman Mythology. Right after class I walk to my car and drive it to the Coliseum lot near student services building by McComas. I parked in a faculty/staff spot and wrote a note stating I would return shortly after I bought my parking passes. After writing the note I proceed to buy 10 daily parking passes; its a lot, I know. I returned to my car PRAYING I would not have a parking ticket. Monday was my lucky day- I had a parking ticket. I was furious. I returned my car to the stadium lot and walked back to the Student Services building to see what I could do about my ticket. They told me I had to go to the main parking building which is across from the intramural soccer fields. I thought this was just awesome! I decided I would go there after I had lunch and another class. After class, I walked down to my car, which I unknowingly parked in another faculty/staff spot by the way. Luckily this time I did not receive a ticket. I drove over to the main parking building and filled out an appeal for my ticket. Hopefully all of this will be settled and I will get the $30 back I had to pay.

I think the moral of this story is that there needs to be more parking spaces for people without parking passes.

This past weekend I decided I was tired of being at Virginia Tech so I decided to go home. I live in Roanoke, Virginia so going home was not a problem for me. I skipped my last class on Friday so I could go home earlier with my roommate. My roommate's sister drove us home which was much better than riding the Smart Bus which is what I was originally going to do. I can't stand riding that bus. It is exactly like charter buses which I don't like either. I think they smell so bad and they feel dirty to me (I'm kind of a neat freak). But anyway, when I arrived at home I began the list of things I had planned on doing while home. The first thing I did was go to Elderberry's which is a smoothie place. After that I went back home and just hung out for a while. That night I had my grandma's spaghetti and meat sauce. It is just incredible its definitely one of my favorite foods. After dinner I went home and watched a movie with my mom. I can't remember what it was so it must have not been very good.

The next day I repeated my Elderberry's trip and went to one of my high school's basketball games that night. They played Christ School from Asheville. Christ School is number 16 in the nation so needless to say, my high school lost. The score was 96-76. Either way it was very entertaining. After the game I went to Maggie Moo's, an ice cream place. I got a small chocolate milkshake which is what I get every time I go. I go there all the time so everyone working there knows exactly what I want when I walk in. I kind of like that. So after ice cream I went home and watched the end of the Virginia Tech/Virginia basketball game. I'm glad we pulled it out just like last time. After the game I watched the Olympics. Luge was on, which I think is so boring. That's basically all I have seen of the Olympics so its pretty frustrating. Around 11:30 I decided to go to bed. I caught up on A TON of sleep this weekend which is exciting. On Sunday I did a lot of nothing and then ate Szechuan, a local Chinese food place, for dinner and was driven back up to Tech by my dad around 6:30. Overall I would say this weekend was pretty successful. I was happy to get away for a few days.

A Little Complaining

Tonight I went to the gym to work out. I left the dorm at about 6:30 and didn't get back to the dorm until about 8:15. Ever since the new year, the McComas gym has been packed and it is extremely frustrating.

My roommate and I started working out about three or four weeks before the start of winter break. It seemed like we could go to the gym at any time of the day and there would be less than twenty to thirty people in the weight room. I knew the new year would bring more people to the weight room but I didn't think it would be to the extent in which it actually is. On multiple occasions my roommate and I have waited fifteen to twenty minutes just to use a bench for one exercise. After that we were fed up by how many people there were so we decided to leave. Although the gym is crowded now, I know in a few more weeks or a month there will only be a fraction of the people there. I'm hoping at least.

On a different note, I'm really nervous about the upcoming tests in basically all of my classes. I have a test in my Greek and Roman Mythology class on Wednesday and I'm not really sure what the test will be like. The teacher gave us a study guide but there is a lot of material that could be on there. That is how it is in almost all of my classes I feel like. They all have a lot of information and the teachers have not made clear what we will be tested on. I think my sociology tests will be very difficult. The class is so boring and it is extremely hard to pay attention. The teacher essentially reads off of power points she has prepared. So boring.

Sorry for all of the complaining. I'll think of something better for next time.

Snow and the Cold

The recent snow storm seemed to cause a hype around the Virginia Tech campus. People were eager to play in the snow or have a snowball fight amongst other activities. I, however, was not one of those people. I actually didn't even want it to snow one bit, unless classes would be cancelled or delayed, of course.

I live in Roanoke, Virginia, only 30-45 minutes away from Blacksburg. Over winter break I experienced one of the largest snow storms in Roanoke history. The snow came in the first few days of winter break. Although I enjoyed the snow at first, it became annoying because I was unable to see and hang out with my friends from home. After a few days, the roads were finally cleared and we were all able to drive around town to see each other. The snow was still on the ground even after winter break, when I came back to Virginia Tech. Seeing the white on the ground for an entire month was quite frustrating.

After experiencing the snow storm at home, the one last week was the last thing I wanted. Unfortunately there is a chance of ANOTHER snow storm at the end of this week. All of this snow will drive me crazy. I am tired of the cold and I am ready for the warm weather! I want to be able to wear shorts and flip flops and go to the beach or doing something outside. I'm ready for the snow and winter to go away and spring to hurry on its way!
