Snow and the Cold

The recent snow storm seemed to cause a hype around the Virginia Tech campus. People were eager to play in the snow or have a snowball fight amongst other activities. I, however, was not one of those people. I actually didn't even want it to snow one bit, unless classes would be cancelled or delayed, of course.

I live in Roanoke, Virginia, only 30-45 minutes away from Blacksburg. Over winter break I experienced one of the largest snow storms in Roanoke history. The snow came in the first few days of winter break. Although I enjoyed the snow at first, it became annoying because I was unable to see and hang out with my friends from home. After a few days, the roads were finally cleared and we were all able to drive around town to see each other. The snow was still on the ground even after winter break, when I came back to Virginia Tech. Seeing the white on the ground for an entire month was quite frustrating.

After experiencing the snow storm at home, the one last week was the last thing I wanted. Unfortunately there is a chance of ANOTHER snow storm at the end of this week. All of this snow will drive me crazy. I am tired of the cold and I am ready for the warm weather! I want to be able to wear shorts and flip flops and go to the beach or doing something outside. I'm ready for the snow and winter to go away and spring to hurry on its way!

  1. Hey man that is what I thought of this nasty weather. The snow isn't allowing too much fun with the outdoors other then the boarding. I agree the spring and summer are the best times to be outdoors with lots to do!

  3. We had that same snow storm in Northern Virginia, and we are definately not use to that huge quantity of snow. I ended up walking 4 miles home in the snow because no one could drive. It wasnt bad though because I enjoy the snow and the peacefulness it is. I ended up walking a lot that weekend, but it was beautiful, especially at night with all the christmas lights reflecting on the snow.
